Ghostbusters III details revealed

ATTENTION: We have moved!  Posts and comments will be redirected to our new location at http://angryweb.net.

First off, let’s confirm that Ghostbusters 3 is indeed in development and has actually been making great progress these few weeks.

“Office” writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are curently penning the screenplay for this third installment, bringing back most of the original cast members back as mentors to a rookie group of Ghostbusters.  While Harold Ramis aka Egon Spengler has insisted for all the main players from the original films to make a return, Sigourney Weaver is still hesitant.

Dan Aykroyd aka Ray Stanz has released a few details on the film:

There will be a whole new generation that has to be trained, and that whole new generation will be led by an individual who you’ll all love when you meet him but I’m not going to tell you anything yet.  They’ll be lots of cadets, boys and girls, who’ll be learning how to use the psychotron, the accelerators and all the new stuff, the neuron splitter, which is going to be the interplaner, interceptor and all these great tools that they’re going to have, to flip from dimension to dimension.

Could this new team of Ghostbusters be larger than what we initially expected?  A Ghostbuster university perhaps?  Whether this movie blows people away or just completely tanks, it’ll sure look damn good seeing the original team back together again.

“The One Thinged Guy” – have you ever seen him?

With the success of Bruce Springsteen’s song “The Wrestler” composed for the film, OverThinkingIt.com has created a follow-up sequel to the song.  Enjoy…

“Transformers 3” Yippeeeee!

The second Tranformers has yet to come out but the third movie has a release date already, if nothing else, Perez reports:

Transformers 3 is happening, with or without any of the current talent attached!

No deal has yet to be made with the stars of the flick, Shia LaBeouf or Megan Fox. Even director Michael Bay hasn’t signed on yet, and a writer has yet to join.

The third installment of the movie is said to be released on July 1, 2011. Just in time for the 4th of July weekend.

Just some advice for Michael Bay on the next installment: more explosions, less story. And more Shia LaBeouf. That totally makes the movies more accurate to the source material. That’s all I remember anyways about Transformers, just the explosions and the humans. And human babies. Or, wait, was that Rugrats?

Anyways, why do I even need to give advice to Bay? We all know how great of a director he is. And Transformers won best picture at the MTV Movie Awards. Woot, woot!

Tony Stark’s House is Rebuilt

“Iron Man 2” director Jon Favreau has released the first photo of himself and cinematographer Matthew Libatique standing on the set of the rebuilt Tony Stark mansion for the upcoming “Iron Man” sequel.

“Iron Man 2” hits theaters May 7, 2010.

“Hard-Boiled 2: Boil Harder”?

hardboiledAccording to the Hollywood Reporter, John Woo has signed on with Lion Rock Entertainment to develop a sequel to the classic 1992 Hong Kong action thriller, “Hard Boiled”.  Jeremy Passmore and Andre Fabrizio will be penning the screenplay and considering these are American screenwriters, chances are that this film will be marketed toward an American audience.  While there is no official confirmation on whether Chow Yun Fat will reprise his role as Inspector  “Tequila” Yuen, it would be a complete surprise if he didn’t.  This would be an awesome career move and a worthy comeback to the R-rated action genre for Mr. Fat after his controversial role as the Fu Manchu pirate, Captain Sao Feng, in “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”, as well as his upcoming role as Master Roshi in the Dragonball Z adaptation.  How ’bout that poster on the right?  Talk about a kickass version of The Pacifier 🙂  Let’s go save more babies, Mr. Fat!

A video game sequel titled “Stranglehold” had been released on the Playstation 3 back in 2007, although it is unknown whether the new film will be a direct adaptation of it or will build off of its storyline.  The game includes a high-definition version of “Hard-Boiled”, while strangely, this version of the film has not had a separate release.

Since its 1992 release, “Hard-Boiled” has garnered a cult following and has been regarded by Entertainment Weekly as one of the greatest, most influential action films of all time.  Empire Magazine has said that it was “more exciting than a dozen Die Hard’s” and has ranked Inspector Tequila as #33 on greatest movie characters of all time.  “Hard-Boiled” has also been noted to include one of the best action sequences ever filmed, lasting 2 minutes and 42 seconds in a burning hospital.  Check this out…

“Batman 3” Being Scripted?

IESB.net is reporting that the brothers Nolan and David Goyer are hard at work in the scripting stage for the next Batman film.  In addition, Batman-on-Film has already confirmed that 2 of those 3 members have already signed on with Warner Bros.  Who those 2 are, we still don’t know yet. Here is producer Charles Roven’s coy response regarding the info:

Chuck Roven: “The creative driver of the project at this point is Chris. There’s really nothing more for me to say about that. When he feels that he’s got something to talk about, then we’ll be able to talk about it.”

IESB: I know you can’t tell us who the villain or villains are, but do you personally know?

Chuck Roven: [Big smile and a laugh] “I really don’t want to talk about that project right now.”

And here’s another awesome fan-made teaser poster for you guys.  How real is that, huh?

*If you have any fanart you would like for us to post on the site, by all means, feel free to let us know!

“Batman 3” – Coming 2011? (no pun intended?)

According to New Jersey’s Courier Post, Batman Begins and Dark Knight Executive Producer Michael Uslan had this to say regarding the third installment:

Uslan will be onboard as executive producer for the “Dark Knight” sequel, which he estimates will be theaters by 2011. As for the identity of the next round of Batman’s supervillains and love interests, Uslan remains tight-lipped. “It’s one of those deals where if I told you, I’d have to kill you,” he says with a chuckle.

“Batman 3” hits theaters in 2011.  Omg, did I just announce the release year for the 3rd Batman installment???
