Lauren Shuler Donner talks “X-Men: First Class”

Producer Lauren Shuler Donner (who rejected my beautiful X4 script!) has revealed details on Fox’s plans for the next possible X-men spin-off, X-men: First Class.

It is the first class of Xavier’s school, way back when, so it’s young Scott, young Jean, young Beast and that’ll be really fun.  I think (the plan) is to follow some of the characters into their own stories, and weave them back into the X-Men world.

And hopefully ‘First Class’ will become its own franchise and we can follow them as they grow up.

Donner also stated that a Magneto movie remains in development.

“Green Lantern” movie to be shot in Sydney, Australia

Warner Bros. Pictures has decided to begin shooting Green Lantern at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney this November.  The film’s budget is estimated to be around $150 million, which is approximately the amount Watchmen was made for.

The reason behind the choice of shooting location is because $150 million is actually worth a lot more in Sydney.  Not only has there been a large decline in value of the Australian dollar, but the Australian federal government is offering an additional 15% location rebate.

New South Wales premier Nathan Rees has stated that the “substantial investment in digital effects work will create hundreds of jobs.  Production is expected to employ 500 people at any given time, including 100 performers, 200 crew, and thousands of extras.”

Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, GoldenEye, The Legend of Zorro) is signed on to direct the film.

Green Lantern is currently aiming for a December 17, 2010 release date.

Why was this movie made? Nvm, I see a 20th Century Fox logo in the bottom right corner of these dreadful TV spots

dragonball-evolution2How do you even remotely pitch such a project to a major studio?  Oh, right…this is Twentieth Century Fox we’re talking about.  Those producers will buy into anything as long as it appears marketable.  Who cares who directs it, writes it, or even acts in it?  Hire Chow Yun Fat – he’ll take anything these days, as long as it tops Bulletproof Monk, right?  What, Justin Chatwin isn’t muscular enough for the part of Goku?  Pshh, what do you think this is, Batman Begins?  Uh oh, fans are complaining about Piccolo not being green…Floyd, I need you to do a color change on this pointy-eared alien so we can make more money on this movie.

Boy, I hope this studio’s at least somewhat satisfied that the money they’ve cheated off of “Watchmen” will make up for at least some of the devastating losses this movie will suffer in its first weekend…day…hour as fans make the intelligent decision to walk out of the theater 10 minutes in.  Alright, Bulma and Chi Chi look pretty hot, I’ll give them that, but this movie…eh, not so (psst…it’s online…google around for it if you dare!).  Seriously, Fox.  This is insulting of you to actually expect audiences to pay for and sit through this movie, as you did for a movie you distributed a couple weeks back titled “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li” (I admit that I regretfully sat through that…oh, man…).

Well, Fox, you did bring us two amazing TV shows called “24” and “House”, and from that, we at AngryWeb have managed to garner an iota of sympathy to do a little promoting of your little movie, after all your failed attempts at professional filmmaking.  Our further condolences go out to the UK, which now has to suffer from the commercial broadcasting of these 5 character spots for “Dragonball Evolution”.  For those who are actually shaking in their pants to see this r-evolutionary epic, “Dragonball Evolution” hits theaters April 18.  Hey, I’m sure it’ll be “The #1 Movie in America”!

Well, it looks like Fox just can’t wait to release this baby out on DVD/blu-ray – does the season even end before May 19???  What episode are we currently on…14?  As frickin’ early as this already seems, the studio has even released the details on the release which will include the following:

I don’t know about you guys, but ever since the last Fantastic Four movie came and went in theaters, I’ve been crying myself to sleep while eating copious amounts of mint chocolate-chip, low-fat ice-cream (I only allow myself the full-fat version on a really bad day) and watching re-runs of I Love Lucy every night (that Lucy Ricardo is just soooo funny and adorable). Well, I’m glad to see help is on the way, MTV reports:

According to anonymous sources at IESB, the “Fantastic Four” film franchise could receive a complete overhaul alongside “Daredevil” and “Planet of the Apes,” with the studio opting to take those properties into more serious territories with new directors.

Daredevil too? Seriously, what did I do to please God so much that he’s blessing us all with such unbelievable news? This day definitely goes down as a historic moment for America, just like when it was announced there would be a Garfield 2, a Pink Panther 2, and Mickey Rourke was still alive.

In fact, I’m going to start camping out now, and for anybody that tries to cut, just know that I’m bringing my machete with me.
